Instead, April became the most expensive month in our rescue’s history.

In just one month, PRFG spent $42,949 on medical care.

That number includes routine vetting, but it also includes lifesaving surgeries, emergency hospitalizations, urgent interventions, and complicated medical cases for pugs who had nowhere else to go.

And we said yes to every single one.

Pookie needed a blood transfusion and Caval surgery to remove 48 heartworms from the right side of his heart.
Walter had complications after his extensive dental surgery and spent the night at the ER for aspiration, bleeding and breathing issues.
Hoshi had a dental surgery with 13 teeth extracted and a mass removed in his mouth.

This is the reality of rescue today.
These aren’t isolated cases anymore. This level of need is becoming our new normal.
